Hidden River Events--a 17+ acre farm just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville, North Carolina--is perfect for couples who are planning a destination wedding and also for those who are local and seek a ceremony and reception site in North Carolina. The Knot: North Carolina selected Hidden River as one of the best outdoor reception sites in the state (March 2008 issue). Hidden River offers a choice of several lovely mountain wedding sites, including locations right next to the river, on an island in a pond, in the perennial garden, or in the main field, with the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop. If you are thinking about an Asheville Wedding, consider Hidden River Events. Our prices are among the most competitive in the region. (See our Pricing page for 2009 and 2010 pricing.) Our peak season is from May 1-November 7, with discounted rates in the off-season. We can handle large events (to 200) and small ones, and we have on-site housing for up to 50 guests. Winter weddings (Nov. 8 to March 31) are limited to small weddings of 50 or less guests. Our Friday night rehearsal dinner packages are nice additions to a Hidden River wedding, or we welcome those for whom the rehearsal dinner will be their only event at Hidden River. Sunday weddings are an appealing option for many, as prices are lower (and guests usually have to take off from work on one day anyway to attend most out-of-town weddings, so Monday is an option and Saturdays open up as a day to enjoy Asheville and time with friends before the wedding). So, for those seeking an available date in 2009 or even more affordability in 2010, Sundays are a great option to consider. Whichever choice you make, our main goal is to alleviate stress so couples can focus on what really matters: creating a strong and lasting relationship that starts with a happy celebration among family and friends without spending excessively in the process.

At Hidden River, our Standard Value Packages are inclusive of most everything couples need to begin planning a largely outdoor event: 3500 s.f. of white-framed tent space on a concrete pad (with sidewalls and heating, if needed), heavy duty white rezin garden chairs, dining and serving tables, cocktail tables, horse drawn carriage, sound system, dance floor, state-of-the art LED lighting system, ice chests, permanent bath facilities, catering tent, on-site golf cart shuttle for those with special needs. Some packages include accommodations if couples are looking for North Carolina mountain cabin weddings. At Hidden River “choice” is the operative word, as couples can choose their own Vendors, or ask us to do all or some of the planning for them as they utililze our “Full Service” package, saving $100’s in costs.

The philosophy of Hidden River was born from the dream of its owner, Dr. Jeanne Sommer, who is one of the most sought out wedding officiants in North Carolina. Dr. Sommer has over 20 years experience as an officiant and as a professor of Religious Studies at nearby Warren Wilson College. She crafts ceremonies designed to reflect the faith and values of the couples, traditional or non-traditional; and the business practices of Hidden River are motivated by three primary ideals: 1) Offering wedding services in the region that keep costs reasonable and the focus of the couples on what is most important: their relationship 2) The preservation of historic Swannanoa Valley farm land, one of the last open valleys so close to the city 3) A business philosophy of “Love Multiplies!” that prompts the giving of a percentage of the cost of each event to local charities.
