Hidden River Events--a 17+ acre farm just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville, North Carolina--is perfect for couples who are planning a destination wedding and also for those who are local and seek a ceremony and reception site in North Carolina. The Knot: North Carolina recently selected Hidden River as one of the best outdoor reception sites in the state (March 2008 issue). We offer a choice of several lovely mountain wedding sites, including locations right next to the river, on an island in the pond, in the perennial garden, or in the field, with the amazing Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop.

Our Standard Value Packages are all inclusive of everything couples need to begin planning a largely outdoor event: 3500 s.f. of white-framed tent space on a concrete pad (with sidewalls and heating, if needed), heavy duty white rezin garden chairs, tables, sound system, dance floor, state-of-the art LED lighting system, table linens, glass dishes and stainless utensils, ball jar glasses, choices of several centerpieces for floral décor, ice chests, permanent bath facilities, catering tent, on-site golf cart shuttle for those with special needs, and a horse drawn carriage for the couple and their guests. Clients can select the Standard Value Package only or they can add on-site accommodations for up to 48 guests if they seek North Carolina mountain cabin weddings . Clients have free choice for all their vendors: catering, cake, alcohol, flowers, officiant, music, etc. We hope to take the stress out of planning a wedding.

The philosophy of Hidden River was born from the dream of its owner, Dr. Jeanne Sommer, who is one of the most sought out wedding officiants in North Carolina. Dr. Sommer has over 20 years experience as an officiant and as a professor of Religious Studies at nearby Warren Wilson College. She crafts ceremonies designed to reflect the faith and values of the couples, traditional or non-traditional; and the business practices of Hidden River are motivated by three primary ideals: 1) Offering wedding services in the region that keep costs reasonable and the focus of the couples on what is most important: their relationship 2) The preservation of historic Swannanoa Valley farm land, one of the last open valleys so close to the city 3) A business philosophy of “Love Multiplies!” that prompts the giving of a percentage of the cost of each event to local charities.

Hidden River Events accommodates large weddings (over 150 guests), small weddings and elopements, and, with our on-site housing, destination weddings.
