Looking comfortable wedding shoes?
If you’ve spent some time wondering: what are the best shoes to wear for an outdoor wedding, either as the bride, a bridesmaid, a mom of the bride, or as a guest, I’m happy to say that I think I have solved the challenge in a way that is both comfortable and affordable. While on holiday in Spain, I met Karina, a dear woman, fellow business owner, who has a passion for helping women to feel beautiful in a way that is affordable. I discovered the shoes that, after all these years, really fit with a style that works both for elegance and the farm.
I call it “Farm Formal” here at Hidden River Events. You’re walking on grass and gravel during the day and in the evening you’re standing on concrete or on a smooth dance floor and you don’t get to sit down much, if at all. You want to appear stylish, but you also want to be comfortable and we all know that if our feet aren’t happy, we aren’t happy.
I’ve walked around the farm for 14 years now: in work boots, cowboy boots, sandals, hiking boots, heels, flats, and wedges. It’s possible to finesse this land in stilettos too. I’ve seen two brides RUNNING to their sweethearts in such, bounding over river rocks, launching into their lovers’ arms. It’s a sight to behold, indeed.
I think I’ve seen it all, with 33 years of officiating weddings. I’ve seen the personalized Asics, the wedding Toms, the vintage cowboy boots, even rubber boots. Everyone has her own style for sure. After this long search and year of observation, I think I’ve found comfortable wedding shoes that are also chic, the only shoes really that I’ve ever been compelled to recommend. I recommend them for several reasons:
First, they are comfortable wedding shoes.
Secondly, they are made by a family that has been making shoes in Spain for generations.
Third, they are affordable wedding shoes. A lot of big companies, with designer brands, buy these same shoes and stick their labels on them and then sell them for 200x their cost. These sell from $33 to $100 plus shipping.
Fourth, they were brought to me by another woman business owner, Karina, who–like me–believes that we have to help each other. She gets to know the women in the small villages who sit with their daughters in the doors of their homes, stitching shoes and talking to other women across the paths who do the same.
Fifth, for some of the pairs, such as my favorite flats, the bottoms are made from recycled tires.
Sixth, your bridesmaids will love you forever for sharing such a comfortable and affordable option with them. Your moms and mothers in law will love you too.
Below are some photos of two that I especially loved but Karina has designed a new shoe, especially for weddings. I saw a photo of the material while I visited her in her town of Marbella, Spain. They will be a delicate, filigree style with gold and silver, transparent to the foot expect for a little silver and/or gold color, but with the trademark comfortable wedge sole and heel. They will be ready this spring. For now, consider her delicate flats that slip on easily but stay on securely or any one of her pairs of wedges, in white, gold, silver or more. I honestly felt as if I wanted to jog when I put on a pair of wedges that made me three inches taller. And, I don’t jog.

At first, we thought all-inclusive meant just having all the infrastructure ready to go for the couple, so what looks like such a simply beautiful, largely outdoor wedding could be as clean and simple as the lines of the tent. There should be no hassles about getting in all the infrastructure and having it ready for your wedding. We did not want to witness a rental truck showing up at the last minute and a mom or bridesmaid, or the couple themselves, setting up chairs and tables–even mowing the yard–on the morning of the wedding. These were all things Jeanne witnessed repeatedly over the years. No wonder people were exhausted before their wedding even began…
