Tips for choosing the perfect wedding music

Tips for choosing the perfect wedding music

Whether you consider yourselves music people or not, your wedding music is as important as the decor. A great band or DJ can be the difference between a pretty fun wedding and an unforgettable one.  Avoid these mistakes and follow these tips, and you’re guaranteed to have truly fantastic wedding music.

The Sound of Silence

Most guests will arrive 20 to 30 minutes before the ceremony starts. The wait will seem a lot longer if they have to wait in silence. Make sure you book your ceremony musician to begin no later than 30 minutes before your event begins.

Also, having music before and during the ceremony will help signal to guests that it’s time to be seated or get quiet by upping the volume or tempo.

Too LOUD!

One of the most common complaints about receptions is the volume of wedding music. No matter how good the music, if it’s too loud, it’ll only frustrate your older family members and make it challenging for them to enjoy the party.

When going over your wedding music plan with your DJ, you can make volume requests. Ask for low volume during cocktail hour and dinner with slower songs like instrumentals and soft ballads.  Request louder for dancing and the final song. On the day of the wedding, ask a bridesmaid or your day-of consultant to keep the volume on their radar and alert the band or DJ if there are any issues.

Mix It Up

Variety is important when choosing wedding tunes. Even if 90’s Grunge is your thing, a few hours of it can be monotonous for guests and have them heading to the door early. Play music shout outs to guests in the crowd-if your parent’s favorite band are the Beatles play their favorite song. Have a playlist with something for everyone. Experienced DJ’s can help you keep the crowd moving.

Here at Hidden River Events, we are in a unique position situated right outside of Asheville. Which means having access to the amazing local musicians of the Asheville music scene. Whether you want a Spotify playlist or a swing band, we can help make music a positive part of your wedding day.

We Specialize in All-Inclusive

At first, we thought all-inclusive meant just having all the infrastructure ready to go for the couple, so what looks like such a simply beautiful, largely outdoor wedding could be as clean and simple as the lines of the tent.  There should be no hassles about getting in all the infrastructure and having it ready for your wedding. We did not want to witness a rental truck showing up at the last minute and a mom or bridesmaid, or the couple themselves, setting up chairs and tables–even mowing the yard–on the morning of the wedding.  These were all things Jeanne witnessed repeatedly over the years. No wonder people were exhausted before their wedding even began…
