Here comes Santa Claus…and here come the Holiday Proposals!

THE DOS AND DON'TS OF PROPOSING ON THE HOLIDAYS

Facebook and Statista agree, the most popular day to propose is Christmas Eve (closely followed by Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Facebook compiled holiday proposal data from more than 2.5 million users in an effort to uncover some of the patterns associated with modern engagements and Statista gathered information of people who proposed during all of 2018. The results were the same.

In addition to the most common days for holiday proposals (or, at least, most common days to announce an engagement), they both found that one-third of people get engaged between November and December:

We have compiled a handy list of the Dos and Dont’s for proposing on the Holidays.

THE DOS

Take advantage of Christmas traditions and activities.

Make the moment extra sentimental.

Include family and friends.

Choose a great spot.

Put the ring in a one-of-a-kind ornament.

Call the carolers.

Cozy up by the fire.

THE DON'TS

Don’t get too cheesy.

Don’t get carried away with the eggnog.

Don’t propose on the actual holiday.

Don’t forget to ask for help.

Don’t forget about the holiday activities for the rest of the day.

Don’t get carried away with the eggnog.

Don’t panic.

Most people agree, the holidays make for a perfect back drop to popping the question. Keep it fun and simple and don’t forget to savor every minute of it!

We did not want to witness a rental truck showing up at the last minute and a mom or bridesmaid, or the couple themselves, setting up chairs and tables–even mowing the yard–on the morning of the wedding.  These were all things Jeanne witnessed repeatedly over the years. No wonder people were exhausted before their wedding even began…
