Facebook and Statista agree, the most popular day to propose is Christmas Eve (closely followed by Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Facebook compiled holiday proposal data from more than 2.5 million users in an effort to uncover some of the patterns associated with modern engagements and Statista gathered information of people who proposed during all of 2018. The results were the same.
In addition to the most common days for holiday proposals (or, at least, most common days to announce an engagement), they both found that one-third of people get engaged between November and December:
